the whole thing about it is that in Michigan there is a state income tax, I guess pudge noticed that 10 million in michingan is really about less than 8 million, he started to think about the Marlins again because there is no state income tax in florida...if this makes any sense at all

You're never going to give it up, are you? For god sake, face facts. Pudge is NOT going to rejoin the Marlins, not this year, and if he has his multi-year contract, not for years to come. FACE IT!

As a matter of a fact, that's what most GMs are afraid about - Pudge being injury prone and his lackluster 2nd half.

Lackluster? It might not have been as great as his first half, but he still got the job done. I wish you would stop calling his second half "lackluster", because while there were a few DAYS there that he wasn't hitting much, he was able to get that one hit here and there, and do a respectable job as a Catcher. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about with his "lackluster second half". It may have been lacking a little, but certainly not enough to be dubbed "lacking luster".

After furhter examination, I partially take back what I said about I-Rod. He did continue to hit but his offensive production across the board did significantly drop down after the All-Star Break. He had a total of 26 RBIs, 3 HRs and an AVG of .297 in the 2nd half of the season. September was his worst month, hitting a .247 with 1 HR, 11 RBIs and a really poor On-Base Percentage of .296.

I apologize as I did make I-Rod seem worse than he is.

I can't understand how you would leave a WS Champion to sign with the worst team in baseball. He could have become a legend in South Florida. The endorsements he would have gotten would have made up for the salary difference. He could have sold cars at Maroone with Marino or sign autographs at a grand opening of a Brandsmart. There aren't any Puerto Ricans in Michigan. Why do you Juan Gonzalez turned down a contract extension from the Tigers?

The deal will get done, what other optons does Pudge have, the Cubs were never really involved in talks, the Mariners are just a rumor, the Orioles don't need him, and the Marlins probably wont give him more than a 1 year contract even if he waits until may 1st, if Detroit is willing to give him the 10+ million a year he's looking for than why not?, besides what do the Tigers have to lose, by signing Pudge, even if he is getting old, keep in mind there owner is the same guy that brought a retired 39y.o. Dominick Hasek back to the Red Wings.
