    The deal will get done, what other optons does Pudge have, the Cubs were never really involved in talks, the Mariners are just a rumor, the Orioles don't need him, and the Marlins probably wont give him more than a 1 year contract even if he waits until may 1st, if Detroit is willing to give him the 10+ million a year he's looking for than why not?, besides what do the Tigers have to lose, by signing Pudge, even if he is getting old, keep in mind there owner is the same guy that brought a retired 39y.o. Dominick Hasek back to the Red Wings.

      I can't understand how you would leave a WS Champion to sign with the worst team in baseball. He could have become a legend in South Florida. The endorsements he would have gotten would have made up for the salary difference. He could have sold cars at Maroone with Marino or sign autographs at a grand opening of a Brandsmart. There aren't any Puerto Ricans in Michigan. Why do you Juan Gonzalez turned down a contract extension from the Tigers?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

      Fellow rican here, hope your doing good.

      1st of all, Juan Gonzalez will regret not singning that contract with the tigers for the rest of his life. He acted like a complete idiot in Detroit, Tigers managment STILL offered him a ridiculous contract and he declined it. Think he is happy in KC paying for 4mil a year? Yeah.

      2nd, Pudge can go 2 ways...... 40 mill for 4 years with Det or 2 years at 8mil per at Florida.
      Easy decision.... he already has a ring, he is 32 so he aint getting any younger(specially for a catcher). If at 32, after showing he is healthy, winning a NLCS MVP and helping FL win a WS, Det is the ONLY team offereing a long tearm contract why decline it?

      Pudge = Smart
      Juan Gonzalez = Idiot(And he knows it)

      Go to Detroit Pudge, you already got your ring, know its time to get paid long term.

      PS:
      The Marlins didn't exactly get better this offseason(lost Castillo and Derek Lee), so even if Pudge signed, it wasn't a lock that they'd be in the playoffs.

            BTW, I honestly hope Gonzo has a great year in KC, he is a fellow puerto rican and very loved back here.......

            But he is still a dope for not singning that fat contract.
