Not according to Satan (i mean Scott Boras, i get those two confused), he says "both sides are still negotiating" and "there is no verbal agreement" he also went on to say that there will be no further comments until monday,
we all know this is basically a done deal, yet he keeps trying to string the Tigers along, just sign the contract already.

I think Pudge will be worth it when he's 37. Everyone is underestimating him. Not to mention that they only paid him that much because it's the Tigers, when you've got a notoriously bad franchise and you want a good player to join it, you have to cough up the cash. Why do you think Pudge wanted multi-year? so he'll have job security and he'll still be getting paid in 4 years. Its a good deal for the Tigers, and once again you two underestimate the Tigers this year. Considering the junk they had last year, they have made major strides and updates in their team.

      Pudge
      Rondell White (underrated)
Fernando Vina (at least good defensively)
      Carlos Guillen (does it all)
      Jason Johnson (pretty damn good)

and now you look at this and you say it's a bad thing? Give me a break. Tigers could easily place 4th in their division next year, if not third. Anyone who denies this, is IMO a Fool.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

How is anyone underrating pudge....is somebody that didnt hit .300 didnt hit 20 homers and didnt have 100 RBI's, hes gonna get 10 Million per? Thats a little ridiculous, he hit 3 homers after the all star break last year...The only reason anyone thinks pudge had a good year last year was the fact that the only games anyone saw him play were in the playoffs.

            Like I said...

            This isn't just "Somebody"....this is a Catcher.

            1. I've made the point across many times that there are few Catchers that can hit the long ball, and we all know Pudge is one of them. Compared to tyhe other 80% of Catchers out there that are lucky to hit over .250, he's well worth the money for that kind of production out of your CATCHER.

            2. This is the Tigers. Once again, they have to pay MORE or they won't get anyone to come to Detroit. Overpaying is something they were prepared to do to get this team back in some kind of shape. They did it here, but by how much? 3 mil at most. It's not that big of a deal. If you're a top tier Catcher who just took his team (and you know he did) to the Series, and a team like the Tigers wants you, the Tigers better offer some major cash. Compared to everyone else they did, and it wasn't for any other reason than that they are the Tigers. You keep acting as if they have a choice in this....WAKE THE HELL UP! They don't. They....MUST...they...HAVE TO...overpay...to get pretty much....ANY talent....in Detroit. Get a clue, hmm? It's not ridiculous because it had to be done. Not because pudge demanded it, not because he's worth it, ONLY because the Tigers are NOTORIOUSLY a BAD team.

            3. People thing Pudge is a good player because of all the defensive numbers he put up. You can say 3 homers all you want, but we all know Homers don't make you a good player. He hit with decent consistency in the second half, and consistency out of any hitter is a good thing. He had a small slump in the second half overall, but to say that because he only hit 3 homers his entire second half was a slump....NAIVE, NAIVE, NA-I-VE!

I can't think of a period of more than 2 weeks where pudge had trouble hitting last season, and with his defensive plays he helped his team make it to the World Series. He's proven he's got what it takes to play in the big games, and make things happen. You can keep denying all you want, but you are under-rating his talents and abilities. He might be getting overpaid, but once again this is the TIGERS, and you CAN'T GET AROUND THAT. Consider his 10 mil more like 7.5 on an average team, the point is he basically got paid the same because instead of playing for a team that has half a chance, he's playing for a team that's expected to lose.

So keep whining all you want, it's my own personal opinion that you're just upset that the Marlins no longer have him, and are trying to diminish his value in your own eyes. It's fine if you want to live your life in denial, but don't force your problems on everyone else.
