At the time, they still had Brosius who was coming off a very good year in '98, and was obviously going to be their 3rd baseman for a few more years. Lowell had done all he could at AAA, so they basically were doing him a favor when they dealt him. At the time, Yarnall was a top prospect. Hindsight is 20/20.....

yeah but brosius was still 36 or 37 at the time.

No, he wasn't. When he retired after the '01 season, I believe he was only 34 or 35, which would have made him only 30 or 31 after the '98 season. So they obviously had no room for Lowell at the time.

Alot of baseball players play basketball in the offseason to stay in shape. I'm sure many of you have heard about Cal Ripken Jr.'s offseason basketball games consisting of major league players prior to spring training. Obviously though he wasnt supposed to be playing, but I wonder why? At any rate, that sucks for him but I dont really think he'll be that difficult to replace IMO.

Henson may not be an option, it is reported that the Houston Texans are trying to get Henson out of his Baseball contract, so that they can sign him and trade him,
the Texans own the rights to Henson, who they selected in the sixth round of last aprils NFL draft, until april, if he is not signed by then he could return to the draft poole and be selected by another team, some scouts say that Henson could easily be the number three Quarter Back taken behind Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger,
the Texans and Henson's agent also say that there are enough potential suitors, that if they can sign Henson trading him would be no problem,
Henson has a guarenteed $12.million remaining on his contract, which could pay him as much as $6.million in 2006, Henson struggled last year in AA hitting only .234, and even with out Boone, does not figure in to the Yankees plans this season.

The latest is that we signed Tyler Houston. He played for the Phillies last year. I have no clue who he is.
