I wouldn't be surprised if they got Ventura back. I know there's that clause that he can't be traded until June 15th, I believe, but if he waives it, they can make a deal.

I read an interesting rumor/proposal online today. White Sox get Erstad and Washburn from Anaheim and prospects from the Yanks, Angels get Konerko and Jose Valentin from Chicago and prospects from the Yanks, and the Yanks get Glaus. Don't really see that happening though.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Being as the Yankees don't have any prospects of note (their top rated prospect is Dionar Navarro, who is at best the 3rd or 4th best catcher prospect in all of baseball), I don't see this happening.

Re: Sheffield might play third for the yanks??

The article mentioned a handful of guys that could be included, guys like Bubba Crosby, Scott Proctor, Roberto Ramirez and some lower level guys. I don't think it would take an awful lot to get this done because Anaheim has no intention of re-signing Glaus after this season, and he'll want big bucks, plus the Angels get out of Erstad's contract and the same for Konerko, although they'd be taking on each other's problem.

Although this rumor has him going to Chitown, I still think Erstad would've been a good fit for the Yanks-- he plays good team ball, a great centerfield...etc. But Glaus? Where did you read this rumor? I hesistate to comment because I don't know Glaus' contract status though I realize guys are given away quite frequently because of finances... and essentially any trade involving yankee 'prospects' at this point involves giving players away.

But I find it hard to believe the Angels would trade 3 key players for Konerko and Valentin. I have to doubt that rumor entirely.

I read it in the Chicago Tribune. Glaus is a free agent after the season, and I don't think the Angels are desperate to re-sign him, so they would trade him in the right deal.

The Sporting News is also reporting this, the deal is actually a good deal for all involved,
the Yankees get what they need (Glaus), the White Sox get what they want, a starter and a CF, (Washburn, Erstad), and the angels get a pair of stop gap players, (Konerko, Valentin) and some prospects, and the Angels keep Ramon Ortiz, who i believe could be a number 1 starter on many teams,
no one really has anything to lose in making this trade, so this deal may very well happen,
the funny thing about this trade is, it wouldn't be the first time Erstad's been traded to the White Sox.
