    The Dean is out

Detroit Tigers 3B Dean Palmer announced his retirement today, Palmer, re-signed a minor league contract with the Tigers, said that he would retire if he was unable to play in the field, apparently he would not be able to, Palmer has missed much of the past three seasons, after having surgery on both of his shoulders and his neck, Palmer did not figure into the Tigers plans as anything more than a bat off the bench,
Palmer played 14 seasons in the majors with the Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers, his best season was 1998 with the Royals, he hit .278 with 34 HR's and 119 RBI's, Palmer had four 30+ HR seasons, he also had four 100+ RBI years,
Dean Palmer finishes with a career .251 AVG 275 HR 849 RBI in 1357 Games.

We should have "Rsox's corner" or something just for your writing

Dean Palmer....Not much I can say about him. He spent a lot of time with so-so teams early in his career. At least he went to the playoffs with the Rangers when they actually had something resembling a pitching staff. It's a shame that injuries ended his career but he was nothing more than a glorified DH. I don't really remember him being that great of a fielder.

Never much with the glove, Palmer was (believe it or not) one of the better power hitting third basemen of the early 90's. Shame that he got so dinged up late in his career. Tigers could certainly have used his production.
