Dan Evans will have to interview for his own job

New Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt met with current GM Dan Evans on friday and announced that the team will start it's search for a new GM, McCourt told Evans that he will be one of the candidates for the job, the job that he has held for three years, after McCourt told Evans about his plans and assuring him that he is a legitimate candidate for the job, McCourt said "i wanted to be very direct and honest with him, so that he heard it from me first", Evans refused to comment,
the knock on Evans around the league is that he is horrible at returning phone calls, making contract and trade negotiations very difficult, the Dodgers, who were in the playoff race for most of last season, had the N.L.'s worst offense and the N.L.'s best pitching, something that was never able to balance out,
the list of possible candidates is rumored to include: Evans, Pat Gillick, Jim Bowden, assistant GM Kim Ng, and others, the Dodgers were refused permission to speake with A's GM Billy Beane,
McCourt said he would like to have a decision by early in spring training, when asked about the fate of Manager Jim Tracy, who is in the final year of a three year contract, McCourt said that would be up to the GM.

I think Gillick would be the best fit especially if McCourt wants to go retro and back to the "Dodger Way". Gillick was influenced by the Dodgers and Royals when he took the reigns of the Blue Jays in 1979 and while the baseball world has changed much since then the general philosophy is still a strong one. I also think that that type of old school management may make a comeback in this new economic age.

Come on, give Evans some damn credit. Did you see that mess the Dodgers were in after Malone left? Dan Evans has done a pretty damn good job given the circumstances he was given. He took a horrible farm system and made it one of the best. Malone handed out huge contracts to unproven people or long contracts to old people. There's one or 2 of them left now and thats a huge plus.

Just please, dont trade the future. Jackson, Miller, Loney, Gutierrez, and Hanrahan should be kept.
