AROD to Red Sox - "F@#$ off!"
The news is that the Sox made a last ditch effort to bring AROD to the Sox (by taking on his entire contract 'as is') this weekend using a mutal friend to both AROD and the Sox. AROD's response? "---- off!"

This is BS. The Rangers would have entertained that offer for sure.
This is either the Red Sox spinning, or these writers guessing for pub. -

Re: AROD to Red Sox - \"F@#$ off!\"
Why would the Rangers entertain it?
Maybe they feel Soriano is better than Ramirez...especially when considering salary numbers.
And don't you think that after two months of discussions that the Rangers were left with a bad taste in their mouth?
A-Rod sees an opportunity to play with this best friend, Derek Jeter, and is going to turn that down to get back into the Red Sox-Rangers mess?
Highly doubt it.
This story seems to be very legit and I actually heard it last night from the same guy that told me the A-Rod to Yankee deal was going down on Friday night. I think I'll listen to that guy."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: AROD to Red Sox - \"F@#$ off!\"
Because all the Rangers wanted was for someone to take the contract. They did not want players in return.
No one would. Soriano was a throw-in for taking on 67 milion of A-Rod's deal.
The player's union put the quash on the deal, not the Red Sox. There wasn't any bad blood.
The Yankee deal is better than the Red Sox deal, but if this story were true, it would have relieved the Rangers entirely of the contract and allowed them to move forward.
As it is, the Ranger will be paying A-Rod for the next several years.Comment

Re: AROD to Red Sox - \"F@#$ off!\"
I bet it's because Lucchino actually insulted Arod when they were first negotiating. Man, Arod is becoming more and more of a Yankee. Loves big money, the spotlight of NY, and hates the Red Sox!" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

They would still be paying for Manny Ramirez."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
