Re: Rumor has it that Maddux is close to being a Yankee

If this signing does get done it will almost be one of the greatest Yankee teams of all time. On paper that is. I personally have no problem with the Yankees signing all these big names. If their willing to overpay for people, then let them by all means. And sometimes I get sick of watching sports shows when all they can do is act like their talking for every baseball fan when they say "Everyone hates the Yankees!" And then they talk about all that Evil Empire stupid crap.

It's ridicuolus how some people are so jealous over the fact that Steinbrenner knows and will sign ANY players out there he wants. And I don't get how the Red Sox are supposed to be the good guys when they do the same thing the Yankees do, when they go out and sign alot of the big names. And not a single person can deny the Yankees trading for A-Rod is a bad thing. Because all of the sudden Texas has a much smaller payroll and could get back in the hunt in the West.

Brian Cashman just shot down the rumor. Cubs fans, you're getting your 6 inning man.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

ESPN has now removed all reference to the Maddux-Yankee rumor from their Web site.

Hate to say I told you so, but...

AI Franchise - A six-inning man (and third/fourth starter) is exactly what we want from Maddux. He'll mainly be there to teach the young guys.

Exactly. AI don't act like Maddux wouldn't have helped the Yanks staff.

A rotation of Wood, Prior, Maddux, Wood and Zambrano would be as good or better than any in the league, including the Yankees.
