I don't see this as an issue. Arod and Jeter are good friends. Plus I find it hard to imagine the Yankees pull off this deal without doing some due dillegence and finding out whether this could be an issue.

I think this is more media hype than anything else, and think it will be a non-factor this season.

Jeter has the WS rings but A-Rod has it over him just about every other way. The Yanks will be a better team with a-Rod playing SS-- it's going to be strange for Jeter to realize this every time they take the field together.

It's just pure speculation on Rosenthal's part, trying to stir up trouble. It may be an issue down the road, but certainly not this year.

I think A-Rod will move to 3rd because in the end, he just wants to win.

I certainly believe that the Yankees would be better off defensively with Rodriguez at short and Jeter at third. Jeter would be an above average player at third, since he has a strong arm and moves well to his left. At short, he is simply average. But Rodriguez will be the one to move without a doubt. Don't forget that A-Rod is also buddy-buddy with Cal Ripken (who was one of the few guys from baseball invited to A-Rod's recent wedding). I'm sure he consulted with Cal before agreeing to this, and he will take it upon himself to become the best third basemen in baseball. The Yankees should forget this Maddux business, and just focus on getting some depth at starting pitcher (due to age/health) and getting a superior glove at second base. There are a ton of great field/no hit guys, and Enrique Wilson/Miguel Cairo's flaws would be exposed in an everyday role.
