There is no way to tell when the steroids started playing a part in Bond's power surge, but i think it's safe to say that his 73 HR season is definately going to be put under the microscope. Most players hit their peak in their late 20's, and then see a steady decrease in production. Bonds' production actually rose in his mid 30's. Freak of nature or steroid induced greatness? He'll be dealing with that question for the rest of his life, and he should.

Re: Info on the first player in the steroid/balco thing named
How are they going to "research" McGwire? He's not part of this mess. His personal trainer hasn't admitted to supplying anyone with steroids. Hell, i've never heard of him having a personal trainer. McGwire's controversy was over Androstene, which is/was a legal substance sold over the counter at places like GNC. Bonds's situation as far worse. We're talking about ILLEGAL and BANNED substances. It's not fair to drag McGwire's name into this situation. The only reason it's fair to speculate about players like Bonds, Sheffield and Giambi is because of their connection to the parties involved.
In the end, any player that is found to have used steroids to put up monster numbers and break records should have those records removed from the record books.Comment

The difference is that Sosa actually changed his stance and his approach to the plate the year he first topped 60. He was the same size the previous year but using the old Julio Franco stance, and he hit like 35.Comment
