i was just thinking the exact same thing yesterday...
they were talking about how godly the jeter-arod side of the infield will be and how it will be the undisputed best ever.. i just though.. what about the cardinals? rolen and renteria dont put up the homers... but they are both double machines. -

Re: So now that Pujols is signed.. what Infield you want?
Thats a tough call. Going by power, you'll get more out of the Yankees infield but the Cards are no slouches. Rolen is good for 30+ which is what I consider good power numbers but Arod is good for 40 and possibly 50. Going by single match-ups, I think the Cards win because the Yankees only win at 3B (assuming Renteria has the same year this year as last year) and if you include 2B I think Bo Hart is better then Enrique Wilson. Given the question marks surrounding Giambi's health, and the 2B factor, I give the Cards the slight edge though you can't go wrong with either team.Comment

Re: So now that Pujols is signed.. what Infield you want?
Fielding wise the Yanks infield had a combined 26 errors between Jeter, Giambi, and A-Rod.
The Cardinals had a combined 29 errors. Between Pujols, Rolen, and Renteria. But I think it should be noted that Pujols had only 1 error in the infield(62 games) and 3 in the outfield(113 Games).Comment

Re: So now that Pujols is signed.. what Infield you want?
Out of just those 3? I would take the Cardinals.
But the Yanks got a major plus at the Catcher position, and, I don't see how George can sit there and watch poor play at 2nd base for a full season.
Is it just me, or does everyone else see him upgrading the position maybe around the trade deadline? Or sooner?Comment
