    Re: NL West

I like the Giants is this weak division. They played over their expectations last year, and I hope they do the same this year. The Padres have gotten a lot better, and they've had the Dodgers' number the last few years, so I don't see the Dodgers doing much of anything.

I'll go Giants, Dbacks, Padres, Dodgers, then Rockies.

yeah but giants lost just about everybody on their team, plus outside of bonds, nobody can even hit a homerun in Pac Bell
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

                        Re: NL West

If Beltre and Green have stellar seasons, the Dodgers win this division hands down. The pitching staff isn't as good with Quantrill and Brown leaving but it's still light years beyond any of the other teams in the NL West.

The division as a whole is a lot weaker so it's anybody's for the grabbing this year. This is probably the only division where anybody in it can win.

I agree pitching wins championships, but you have to score some runs to win. I don't think the Dodgers have a chance this year.

Giants are still the team to beat in this division until proven otherwise.

Juan Encarnacion was a much "bigger" acquisition for them, but I agree with just about everything else.

The Dodgers are going to struggle mightily to score runs. They really should have found a way to get Magglio Ordonez.

Their pitching may be a little better this year, though, if Darren Dreifort stays healthy. Losing Kevin Brown will hurt some, but Odalis Perez should be better this year, and Edwin Jackson looks good but is a rookie.

The Giants got a little worse, and their starting rotation looks pretty weak, but they still look to be the best team in the division almost by default.

I think a case could be made for Arizona, Los Angeles or the Giants winning the division.

I still think the Padres are at least a year away from realistically contending. If the stars were ever aligned for them to make a big jump, though, this definitely looks like the year.
