Why are people so hung up on PED's??

Why are people so hung up on PED's and Steroids in baseball???
Sure it's cheating but in today's Sports it's about making money.
Also it's not like it's something new, in the past players rubbed, drank,
snorted, ingested anything that would keep them on the field longer, or gave them
an edge. Alcohol dulls the pain just like pain killers and amphetamines will boost players up as well as cocaine. Drugs and alcohol are a part of society and always have been a part of baseball. In the 90's players like McGwire took androstenedione. When I was in
high school lifting weights for football and wrestling everyone took supplements with
androstenedione. It's just what you did and no one thought otherwise. Now it's energy drinks with tons of caffeine and other stuff. Whose to say in ten years those won't be banned, they definitely give an edge. I just don't get why punish players for taking something at the time that was legal. Should they ban all the players that used amphetamines, cocaine, prescription drugs, and alcohol cause they helped players heal faster, endure more pain? If they did that the HOF would be pretty empty.

There's so many threads like this going on, it's ridiculous.

But, your right, there's a double standard in baseball. I don't get it either.

I'm against drinking and drugs (with the exception of acetaminophen and diphenhydramine for sicknesses and allergic reactions, and then anything medically relevant obviously), so I guess it's pretty easy for me to say why I'm against them.

I mean even my favorite player took them; doesn't mean I'm in support of them.

They're illegal in the sport and illegal in the country. Nothing else to say, really. No double-standards here.

I have protein shakes in very light moderation after workouts. If they become illegal or start to show terrible health benefits, I'll stop. Plain and simple.

When I was referencing there being double standards, I meant compared to other sports. Compared to basketball, and football. Baseball is the lone scapegoat, and all the players get hammered. That's the double standard.

          Gotcha.

The records in baseball seem to be held at a higher place though, too.

Also, part of it is that there are now testing protocols in place, so we might as well clean up the sport at the same time.

Locking this thread. We have way too much discussion of this topic.
