Anyone heard of Adam LaRoche of Atlanta?

The rookie first basemen is trying to become a regular on the Braves as a 1st basemen...

    and, a pitcher.

"Braves rookie 1B Adam LaRoche could develop into a two-way threat. He threw 93 mph as a lefthanded pitcher in junior college, and Atlanta might allow him to return to the mound after he is established as a regular. "He's not just a guy with a good arm," Braves assistant general manager Frank Wren says. "He's a guy with good pitching ability." LaRoche, 24, longs to pitch again, saying, "Every year, I miss it more and more." . . . " - Yahoo

    Should be interesting...

He's primarily a hitter, and a damn good one at that. He's going to be the Braves starting first baseman and has been compared to Mark Grace and John Olerud. Don't expect him to pitch much if at all, maybe in the occasional blowout. His future is as a hitter.

By the way his father is former major league pitcher Dave LaRoche.

I heard of him when watching the braves preview on fSN.They say he has a beautiful swing and can really hit the baseball.I'd say he should just concentrate on 1 position,however...

He should stick to playing 1st base. He's a great fielder, with a great arm. And one heck of a bat, hit 20 homeruns last year. And thinks he could hit more this year. The skies the limit for this guy, can't wait to see him in action this year.
