Re: 9/16 - 9/22 Game Discussion Thread
The Reds don't make any damn sense. It's a small sample size but, it's amazing to look at. Cincy takes 3 out of four against a damn good Cardinals team. Sweeps the Excellent Dodgers, but loses 2/3 to Milwaukee, 2/3 to the Cubs and 2/3 to the Rockies? What the hell is going on?
Following this sample; they will take 5 out of 6 against Pittsburgh, but lose two out of three to the Mets and get swept by the Astros lol.
I thought Washington would make a push, I thought it would be sooner though, but Cincy better watch their back, because the Nats are charging and charging hard, and the Reds are in limbo. But it's probably too late for Wash, but baseball is crazy. Anyway if you use the Reds logic, they will split their next 10 games. -
Re: 9/16 - 9/22 Game Discussion Thread
Even though I don't think the Nationals will make the Wild Card, the only thing really helping them the rest of season is a 4 game series at home against the Marlins. They start a 3 games series tonight at home with the Braves which will be tough. After the homestand they finish on the road with 3 against the Cardinals and 3 against the Diamondbacks. Cardinals will be a tough series as well. Their only hope really is to have the Reds lose games while the Nats play the Marlins.
This AL Wild Card race is definitely something to watch over the next 2 weeks. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.Comment

Re: 9/16 - 9/22 Game Discussion Thread
1-6 in our 7 games against Boston this month. The good news is we are still in it. Never would have expected to still be in the race after 2 series like that.
So many teams involved who still play each other I don't even know who to root for in a lot of them. Just hoping the Yankees can go on a 9-3 or 10-2 run the rest of the way and then hope for the best. Don't know if its doable the way we've pitched lately, and now that the injuries have picked up again.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

The Rays-Rangers series will really open the door for you guys. You're playing the Blue Jays, so you can expect at least 2 out of 3, which will gain you at least 2 games in the WC on someone. The Indians have about as weak a schedule as you guys, and they are only a half game behind TB and TEX. Personally, I want them to get in, but I can see you guys sneaking in too. Maybe both the Rays and Rangers fall out of the WC. The Rangers right now are reminding me of the 2011 Sox, but they are reaching their downfall earlier.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

imo you guys are fine. The pitching wasn't that bad against the Sox, it's just that we have the best offense in the league with the deepest lineup. Kuroda had one bad inning Friday, CC was inconsistent, and Nova also had 1 bad inning. The offense was shut down by our top 3 starters.

Our pitching has been abysmal of late though. We had one of the better rotations and bullpens in baseball for most of the year, and now both of them have hit the wall hard. Which is frustrating because now the lineup has come back to life. We just can't get it all to click at the same time. And right now we really don't have an Ace.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

That door is quickly closing though. We are only in this thing because of some major collapses thanks to a few teams. I think we take 2/3 from Toronto, I don't know about San Fran, their kind of hot, and they could play spoiler. Houston I swear to God we better take 2 at least, and we should sweep.Comment

Just got back from the Rays/Rangers game at Tropicana Field with my wife and son. Great game all around for the Rays tonight. Got to see Wil Myers play in person for the first time and see him smash a homer too. Had a great time at the ballpark tonight. Can't beat the seats I had. Can't wait to go back again Thursday night.
Cliff Lee was absolutely dominant for the Phillies tonight. 8 innings and 14 strikeouts. Also went 3-4 with 4 RBI at the plate too. Had a triple in those 3 hits.

Nope. I bought tickets for both games back in June when we planned our trip here. We planned Tampa so we could go see the Rays. Sitting in the same first row seats Thursday night only on the 1st base side. For a team in the playoff race, it's a shame they still can't draw fans here. Only 10,000 last night.
A fan ran on the field last night in the top of the 5th inning in nothing but tighty whitey underwear. Came from the visitor's dugout side. Ran right over to second base and dived and tried to take second base from the ground. Security got him easily since he was already on the ground. It was hilarious. Alex Cobb looked furious.Comment
