Knowing him, at some point in a game he'd randomly turn around on the rubber and try pitching to 2nd base.

Braves release Mat Gamel after he re-injured one of his knees during a private workout last week. I feel sorry for the guy, he can't seem to catch a break.

Toronto didn't go after Jimenez probably because they didn't like him, not that they couldn't afford him. The Orioles are clearly believers in the last 12 starts he made. The Jays, not so much.

Ervin Santana is the last big name pitcher left, and I am not a fan. At this point, my longshot projection from earlier that Nolasco should get more money than Santana might come true. Chris Capuano and Joe Saunders can eat innings, but have limited upside. Odrisamer Despaigne was cleared to sign out of Mexico (Cuban defector) a few weeks ago; he probably has the most upside of the remaining free agents.

Pirates continue to monitor Ike Davis. They are also looking at Justin Smoak and Mitch Moreland.

I don't know if Davis is shot at this point or needs a change of scenery but the starts this guy gets off to? Mark Tex laughs at him.

Apparently the O's overpaid for Ubaldo as Buster Olney reported that they added another year and more dollars to him as they believed that Toronto and Boston each made an offer. Apparently both clubs never made such an offer.

Good work on Ubaldo's agent there.

That was an /overpay/ for Ubaldo? Wow. It was still a really good deal.

I can't imagine that Pittsburgh would give up too much for Smoak or Moreland.

Per MLBTR the Blue Jays are unlikely to sign a free agent pitcher.
