    absolutely, great for the A's AND MLB, that kid is now their franchise player, excluding the pitching triumvirate that is....however, if you ask nicely, we'll be willing to send Glavine over for him

      A.P. reports "Oakland actually keeps a player"

      Mr. Beane should just keep on reading his own "Moneyball" book..
      ps - whatcha gonna do when the big three become FA's there buddy????

                  i apologize to any a's fans on this board for my sarcastic remark.. however, what made them let Giambi &amp; Tejada walk away, &amp; resign Chavez?? would he be that more talented than the other two? just asking.. but it will be a problem when the pitchers come up for FA..

                        Giambi and Tejada were different situations. Tejada wanted a much huger deal than what Chavez is getting. There's no way they would have been able to match the contract that Baltimore gave him.

                        As for Giabmi, Oakland offered him a deal that was more than fair but he turned it down.
