What's up with Seattle ??

They seem to be slipping. Haven't been watching must baseball (besides the Braves) and didn't notice they might not even make the playoffs. Or the Redsox . I was pulling for the Redsox to go, but with the A's and Angels playing so well, it doesn't look good for either team (sox or mariners).

According to ESPN, A's and Mariners have 24 games left. Angels have 25 left. Red Sox have 26. Oakland is up 3 1/2 in the West, Angels are up 2 1/2 in the wild card over Seattle.

In my opinion, Seattle is a very over-rated team. They have a great closer, decent starting pitching, and the best lead off hitter in the game... but it takes more than that to win championships.

Take away the career years that half the team had last year and you get... this year's team. Not that spectacular.

I thought they would go to the playoffs for sure. They don't deserve to go though. especially the way the a's and angels are playing.

I'm happy about Boston being out, but I like watching the Mariners. Oh well, the Angels are very underrated and could surprise in the playoffs if they play Minnesota.

baseball guru you should change your name to SOFTBALL GURU,HAHAHAAH, just kidding, but you have obviously overlooked the mariners by a long shot, but whatever.....and after the mariners got sweeped by texas, I agree ITS ALL OVER, my little bit of hope is completly gone, Zito, Hudson coming up after we just got sweeped by a team we were 25-7 against in the 2 years, just to reiterate my earlier point you obviously don't know anything about mariners

oh heel fan heres what is wrong with the mariners(the list)
1.Ichiro is hitting something like .280 in the second half, .200 in september so far, and if you take in account that he isn't stealing hardly AT ALL and he has no power you have one of the worst offensive players in baseball(still the best OF defensively though)
2. FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY and FREDDY, did I say FREDDY, his ERA is 4.30, 4.30!!!!! he lead the AL in era last year and should have gotten the CY young, now hes 15-10 and his era is 4.30, hes gone to the best in the AL to Pretty good, but NO where near where he was in the first half of this year and all of last year, not to mention I thought his first half was a disappointment and he was a all star, he is THAT good, next year I believe both will be on track like normal.
3.Jeff Cirrillo No production on Offense and only provide D
4.Edgars Injury
5.Mike Cameron being VERY inconsistent good D as well though.
6.Moyer good season but faltering as of late, but hey he's 40 so give him a break.
7.Sierra and Mclemores injurys
8.Management not bringing in any other players when they were starting to where down other then doug creek, and valdes
9. Over confidence in such a good division.
10. Ichiro sucks, and basically the whole team sense the all star break or at somepoint has gone in a complete 180 turn

just let it be known that I stick by my team at all times still go to games and realize when we couldn't beat are own AAA team if it was for the fricking world series. Then again they are going to the playoffs. Can you still remember when we were 3 games up, thinking we were comfortble, I went on a vacation to chicago and sense then DOWN HILL. P.S. I HATE FANS THAT ONLY SHOW UP WHEN WE WIN 116 GAMES AND ARE NO WHERE TO BE SEEN WHEN WE WIN 56 GAMES, if you havent noticed i'm sorta mad at the mariners and there players right now, they are playing like we are 20 games up, would 20 of the wins from the best regular season in baseball HISTORY be okay right now.

I haven't overlooked anything... that aren't that great of a team. Like I said before, take away the career years that half of the team had last year and you are left with a good team, but not a team better than the Angels or especially the A's.

Cameron is showing his true colors, Boone is playing like he did in his Atlanta years, and bullpen isn't that solid with Suzuki getting shelled in his last save opportunity, and Edgar still isn't close to 100%.

I disagree with your playoff assessment... if they were in there, they'd be lucky to win a game, regardless of who their opponent was. The A's are better all around, especially their rotation... the Yankees are playing like the Yankees again and have the best hitters in the league 1-4... and the Twins are on a mission this season, playing with some fire and something to prove.

I know how it is when someone tells you that your favorite team isn't very good... I was a Braves fan in the '80's. Still, you have to come to grips with the fact that they let their division slip away this season and with the competition they are going to have in the future, they'll be lucky to make it back to the playoffs anytime soon. They need to get a couple of new bats and some new arms for the rotation... until then, get used to a boring October in the Seattle rain.

I was at the game in Oakland tonight and the M's looked dead.
they where throwing bats and helmets after flyouts and K's. They look like they are ready for a vaction. Barry Zito by the way looked absolutely unhitable for 7 innings. his curve was as sharpe as it has been all year.Oaklands magic number for the a spot in the playoffs is 8.
