It's not a "waste" at all to have him at first base. The logic behind it is real simple.

Erstad is a really good in Center, but because his style is so balls-out reckless, he gets banged up all the time.

It is a better move for the team because with him at first, he should stay healthy and the Angels will have his bat in the lineup for a whole season for once. I say it is a smart move.

Also, from what I hear, his defense at first is impeccable already too, possibly gold glove caliber.

I'll definitely miss his highlight reel stuff in Center, but it is a good way to go for the Angels.

I agree. Garrett Anderson is more than capable of handling center field. He's not spectacular like Erstad was, but when you've got Vlad in right and Guillen in left (arguably the two best OF arms in the league), everything kind of evens itself out. One of, if not the, best OF's in the league.

Someone was on the Tony Bruno show this morning making a case for the D-Rays outfield (defensively). I don't see much of, ok any, of their games so I can't compare.

The d-rays outfield covers more ground as all 3 of them are capable of playing center and especially baldelli and crawford are really fast.

But do they have rockets for arms like Guillen and Guerrerro?

but don't go so far as to say that Vlad and Guillen are the two best OF arms in the majors....did you just suddenly forget about Ichiro? That guy can do it all in the outfield.
