Multiple threads rather than one thread for everything obviously won so we should go with that going forward and see how it goes.

Re: Direction of the MLB forum threads
Yeah, I agree with this.
Instead of an arbitrary person deeming a thread not important enough for it's own thread I think the thread itself should dictate that. If people are engaging in a thoughtful discussion on a topic it doesn't make sense to close threads down and send them into a huge general thread. That messes up the flow IMO and makes forums such as this look like ghost towns.
Yes.
Little deal threads will die in time. Let people start threads. What should be closed are redundant threads.
There's a lot to be gained from having threads dedicated to a single topic.
It's funny though that the baseball forum is so different. It really doesn't surprise me. It's like baseball fans are some of the most secluded but tight knit bunch in sports.
We want things one way and no one else likes it.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Direction of the MLB forum threads
The internet by it's very nature is not prone to consolidation, it's just full of too many varied topics and interests and people.
And the worst thing that can happen when someone posts a meaningless or niche thread is that it just takes a couple days before it's buried down with all the other forgotten threads.
If you aren't willing to read through and consider everyone else's thoughts than you have not earned the right to share your own. That's what makes it a community.
