Re: Who would ever have thought that the Tigers, Brewers, and D-rays w

The main reason I like Kendall hitting 8th is that he usually chokes when there are RISP, which is not what you want with your #3 guy. I wasn't a huge fan of Mac's lineup in a few places today:

Why is Randall Simon hitting 4th? That's an absolute joke. I'd put him at #6 and leave him there. #4 should be chosen from the following depending on who is playing (and in the following order): Mondesi or C.Wilson if Mondesi sits. Period.

Since Kendall won't be #8, I'd submit the following as my "everyday" lineup:

    Tike Redman
    Jack Wilson
    Jason Kendall
    Raul Mondesi
    Craig Wilson
    Randall Simon
    Chris Stynes
    Second Baseman Du Jour
    Pitcher

Once Bay comes back, here would be my IDEAL lineup

    Redman
    J.Wilson
    Bay
Mondesi (Craig Wilson if Mondesi is out)
    C. Wilson (JJ Davis would fit here if he's playing)
    Third Baseman (Mackowiak, NOT Stynes)
    Second Baseman Du Jour
    Jason Kendall
    Pitcher

Re: Who would ever have thought that the Tigers, Brewers, and D-rays w

Jason Kendall is not a great hitter with runners in scoring position, but he batted .314 last year so it's not quite as abismal as it seems. The problem is we really have no one else who bats well with RISP and can drive in runs now. Hopefully Jason Bay will be able too when he gets off the DL

Once Bay is healthy this will be the lineup I bet Mac will send out there

      Tike Redman
      Jason Kendall
      Raul Mondesi
      Craig Wilson/Randall Simon
      Jason Bay
      Chris Stynes
      Second Baseman Du Jour
      Jack Wilson
      Pitcher

That's not exactly Murderer's Row, but this is the lineup I think that would probably be the best fit.

      Tike Redman
      Second Baseman Du Jour
      Jason Bay
      Raul Mondesi
      Craig Wilson
      Jason Kendall
      Jack Wilson
      Mackowiak
      Pitcher

I don't want to see Mackowial batting 8th, but I really don't want Wilson, or the second basemen batting their either so I think it will do. Plus this kinda throws Bay right into the fire by batting 3rd but we'll see, he could always flop with Kendall if he struggles.

With that being said this will all become pointless in a about two months. I don't think we will have the pleasure of Raul Mondesi's company after the trading deadline. He's only here to jump start his career and hopefuly get traded to a contender in July. Plus he has an 8 million dollar club option for next year so NO way he is a Pirates after 2004. So after he leaves it opens an intresting possibility of having J.J Davis become our everyday RF or of having Craig out in right and (gulp) Simon at first base, depends on how J.J is looking and seeing if he has a solid future here.

If Davis keeps hitting like he did during the spring, I think he'll do fine. He seems to have things figured out this time around.

The problem with Mackowiak hitting 8th is that he strikes out way too much. I'd rather see him somewhere like 6 since he does have decent pop with the bat.

There was a reason I wasn't afraid of anything when Dmitri got injured. Craig Monroe. He's a good replacement for Dmitri, I mean he's got great speed and he can jack 20-25 in a full season. He's a great stand-in for Dmitri, and you never thought you'd say it about a Tigers team, but they CAN WIN WITHOUT HIM.
