I'm not watching that league anymore.

The quality of play is decent enough, but the broadcasting partner is simply impossible to deal with.

"Hundreds" of Minor League players were cut today (I don't know the exact number), and will continue to be cut as the week goes on, reaching upwards of 1,000.

      They've essentially decimated the Minors.

ESPN E60 documentary on Roy Halladay was really good tonight.

Aired on the 10th anniversary of his perfect game against the Marlins.

            Seeing that documentary was sad.

Lots happened off the field we never knew about. Seemed like things went downhill in the middle of his Phillies career.

Who was the teammate suggesting that doctor in Florida?

Very sad. I have no idea who the teammate could have been. Probably never find out.

And also, he was still under contract then, so did MLB never test him or was stuff he was taking not on banned substance list?

And I'm not sure which teammate went with Kendrick to confront Halladay, but I'm guessing it wasn't John McDonald? They were teammates in Toronto, but I think McDonald was only on Phillies roster during the time Halladay was out.

The MLBPA proposed a new plan to MLB today.

The proposal is a 114-game schedule starting June 30th and ending October 31st.

It includes the right for any player to opt out of the season, and potential defferal of salaries if the season is completely cancelled.

So season ends October 31st and playoffs in November? Will this be playing on regular ballparks, or the Florida/Arizona proposal?

I'd imagine baseball games in November would suck to play in temperature wise.

Owners are going to reject so I wouldn't get too caught up in the 114 game season and where playoff games are going to be played.

And when they do, a certain group of people will still blame the players.

This plan is the most fair option there's going to be. It allows a week for the players to join their teams, 3 weeks for Spring Training II/virus testing, it allows the players to make 70% of their salaries, it allows a large number of games to be played.

And the owners are going to say no. Because they don't want to pay the players.

The Oakland A's owner has a net worth of nearly 2 billion dollars. It would take roughly 1 million dollars to pay every A's minor leaguer through the end of the minor league season (which is a ridiculous number in the first place), and instead he decided that none of them were gonna get paid.

David Price is paying 1000 bucks of his own to every minor leaguer in the Dodgers system in June.

Sin-Shoo Choo is paying every minor leaguer in the Rangers system.

Mookie Betts recently paid for every single customer at a grocery store.

Bryce Harper donated 500K to virus relief.

The Washington Nationals players came together yesterday and decided to group up and pay all the minor leaguers in the Nationals system.

People are still gonna say it, but the players aren't the greedy ones here.

Baseball is "dying" because of the owners and commisioner. And because of people that refuse to let the game evolve, but that's a different discussion.

Yeah, 114 games is definitely going to be rejected. I don't even know if MLB can move their playoffs back too much because of TV commitments.

I don't know how on Earth you could run a 114-game season including doubleheaders with no minor league system. Even if you increased the roster size to like 30 or 35 that wouldn't be enough. How do you keep a taxi squad game ready without the minor leagues? The Jays had 29 pitchers last year pitch three or more games during 162-game season. I've got to imagine a 114-game compressed schedule would be a nightmare for pitching staffs.

If the players are insisting on being paid on pro-rata salary basis and no further cut (it's questionable like Michael Kay mentioned if being paid on a pro-rata salary basis is actually a cut but that's another argument for another day), the only way I see anything done is if the schedule is pared back to like 50-60 games. That way the owners still get their big playoff bucks from the TV contracts and pay the players a third of their original salary which might be acceptable. It also makes it's easier in terms of testing, travel, smaller quarantine time, etc.

Obviously, not ideal but I'm looking for solutions.

It's not only baseball. Remember when the NBA first when on hold with the virus, the players were the ones paying for the stadium workers. Owners in all sports are slowly killing the sport.

The potential season Major League Baseball envisions would run somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 regular-season games, sources told ESPN. The exact number is being considered, but the aim would be to return in July. It would be less than half of players’ proposed season length.
