RIP to one of the GOATs; really wish he still held the all-time HR record.

When Ruth retired in 1935, the next closest player to his career HR total was Lou Gehrig at 378, not even within 300 home runs of Ruth's mark. Seemed like an unbreakable record at the time; that it was eventually broken by someone born in an era when people of his race weren't even allowed to play in MLB is remarkable stuff. The game is a poorer place without him.

Hank was before my time, but I always enjoyed listening to him when he would join a broadcast or get interviewed. He overcame a lot in his career, and I have always heard nothing but genuine praise for him as a person.

Hank Aaron had at LEAST a 4.0 fWAR from for 18 straight seasons and at least a 6.0 fWAR from 1955 to 1969.

...and without ever striking out 100 times in a season.

Couple of crazy Hank facts I saw today.

If you took away all 755 home runs, he'd still have more hits than the other 2 members of the 700-Club.

                    Aaron- 3,016
                    Bonds- 2,935
                    Ruth- 2,873

And Hank has the record for most games with a home run, at 692.

My admiration of Mr. Bonds will step to the side for now when I say that we lost one of the most incredible and iconic legends in this sport, much more so than Barry.

The most remarkable thing to me is that he never came anywhere near breaking the single season HR record at the time

ATLANTA -- Hank Aaron expressed pride after being injected with the COVID-19 vaccination. The iconic Hall of Famer hopes his willingness to be vaccinated Tuesday will help lessen concerns some Black Americans may have about receiving the shot. “\[Getting vaccinated\] makes me feel wonderful,” Aaron told The Associated Press. “I

Bobby Thomson breaking an ankle during Spring Training led to Hank getting an opportunity to play. And the rest, as they say, is history.

RIP Hank. I’ll forever be jealous of those who got to see you play.
