Never realized Uecker was also a player.

6 seasons as a player, never a regular.

But his first and last seasons he was teammates with Hank Aaron and Joe Torre. How crazy in hindsight to see those 3 as teammates and all 3 would be Hall of famers in 3 different categories.

Also hit HRs off Gaylord Perry, Ferguson Jenkins, and Sandy Koufax. Considering he only hit 14 total, that's also kinda crazy

In succession technically as well since those were career HRs number 3, 4 and 5 for him. Spread out over 2 seasons but still.

Ichiro 1 vote shy of unanimity. The hunt for that person is gonna be intense

Was browsing Twitter regarding the HOF news and the first image I saw was of congratulations to Billy Wagner in a Braves uniform and I was like WTF?

Then kept scrolling and saw that every franchise for which an inductee played for, no matter how short the stint, puts out an art/graphic congratulating him in their uniform

How dare you disrespect Red Sox legend Billy Wagner.

That reminds me of the Jays and their first ever HOFer, Phil Niekro.

I always wonder how the voters have one person, they have to talk about it before the votes right? Otherwise every single voter might be the one to leave him off, and then he gets no votes. The fact it's always one voter, how is that not collusion? There's no way every time a guy is always 1 vote shy by total happenstance

What? All 400 BBWAA voters, ranging from active writers to guys who haven't covered baseball in decades, are meeting up somehow during December to determine which one of them won't vote for Ichiro? I'm not following here. Are you confusing this with the Veterans Committee, where 16 people are in the same room (or more likely, the same Zoom meeting) while discussing candidates?

And there have been a grand total of 2 players who have been one vote shy of unanimous election - Ichiro and Jeter.

There is perhaps no greater honor for a big leaguer than being inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame -- especially in the first year on the ballot. Even more remarkable than being a first-ballot Hall of Famer is a player receiving every single possible vote in his first
