    MLB Off-Topic

Good info in here re: punishments. Cardinals docked 2 first rounders and $2M for accessing a database.

Astros were using cameras and/or buzzers to steal signs in real time that surely affected games, and even potentially a World Series outcome. That is about as bad as you can get.

I suspect Manfred will come down hard, mainly on the manager, coaches, some front office folks, and any specifically singled out players (the bullpen catcher who may have relayed the signals, for example, though if any players are found to be leading the charge they’ll get some too). Probably a year off at minimum for non-players.

If you can’t take their title away, and let’s be honest, you can but you really can’t, take away time from their career. They need to feel this.

Can’t let this stand. It’s poisoning the game, the integrity. Like knowing a crooked ref officiated your game... always a question in the back of your mind. I don’t have any love lost for NYY, but they’ll never be able to know what if. That’s disturbing to me. Goes against what sport is about. Especially in a sport that has had some infamous incidents of wrongdoing. The commish has always come down severely on them, at least in the highest profile ones. (It was hard or impossible to isolate steroid use, but it left a cloud over the game for the better part of the last decade and a half that were only recently getting out from under IMO).

**** any BS loopholes either. Make them take it to court. You cheated, blatantly and arrogantly.

    As they say, yerrrr out!

Cheating is cheating in my book. I don't believe in comparing this to others or trying to list which is the worst to least worst.

Electronically/systematically stole signs = cheated the sport of baseball
Took steroids/PED's = cheated the sport of baseball
Intentionally lost games = cheated the sport of baseball

So what the hell were the Astros doing this year. Because they couldn't win a world series game at home.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred just acknowledged that the investigation into the Houston Astros will involve looking into the 2018 and 2019 seasons as well as 2017.

Excessive reference to board games aside, I really enjoyed this article about game variance and why baseball is designed the way it is and why it's great, etc.

I love chess almost as much as I do baseball (& I'm equally terrible at both). intentionally or not, glad to read the author put pen to paper, so to speak, as to why baseball is better than chess. Now I want Ben Kingley to do a sequel to his chess movie, title-ready ''Searching For Barry Bonds''. Too bad Barry's dad didn't name him Bobby, ''Searching For Bobby Bonds'' would have been a better name

The end to local blackouts may be near!

Last week, Major League Baseball owners held their early meetings, and cord cutting was an important topic. According to a statement from MLB to reporters, the owners had “approved unanimously a revised interactive media rights agreement.” This vote could put an end to the age-old rule of preventing people from streaming MLB games if they […]

Finally, man. It's total BS that myself living in Vegas can't get any A's, Angels, Padres, Dodgers, and Dbacks games due to blackout rules.

I just use Reddit for the games, but soon I wont have to if this goes through.

LOL, I don't man. It is what it is. Shouldn't have blackouts and sports channels should be al a cart in my opinion. Tired of expensive cable bundles just to get the sports package I want. It's crap.

It really is man. It's pathetic too that it's 2019 and this is still a thing. I cut the cord a few years ago and haven't looked back since.
