I don't know where the confusion is. Nobody is saying they can't use previous games or excel spreadsheets or algorithms. The issue is USING A LIVE FEED OF THE GAME YOU ARE PLAYING (LETTER FOR LETTER AGAINST THE RULES) AND BANGING ON A TRASHCAN TO TELL THE BATTER WHAT PITCH IS COMING.
Honestly? You seem to be the one confused. You're in agreement by saying you're good with using spreadsheets based on previous games.

Not one person in this thread has said they are okay with them being used in a live game environment.

I think you're confusing what you're actually mad about versus what's actually being said in this conversation.

The thing I'm surprised we haven't heard more about (now knowing that Houston had an open culture of cheating)...did those pitchers they traded for (Verlander, Cole, Morton, Pressly etc) really get better in a legit way? Or nah?

If it means anything, Morton has kept it up after leaving. Took a quick look at his numbers and he was just as good for the Rays last year as he was for the Astros, and we’ll get to see Cole on a different team next.

On the flip side there have been a few hitters who have not lived up to their performance during the prime trash-can-banging years (Marwin Gonzalez and Jake Marisnick come to mind). So whatever "dark arts" they're using on the mound, they seem to be more sustainable than buzzers and banging

                  Re: MLB Off-Topic

MLBTR has a post about expanded playoffs by 2022.

Says 7 teams from each league would qualify with the first overall getting a first round bye and the other 6 teams playing in 3 game playoff.

Not sure how I feel about that.

I feel that the season is already long enough and I’d hate to see mediocre teams qualifying for the postseason.

                  I’m really not a fan of Manfred’s.

I don't know, I think it is time for a concerted campaign to remove Manfred; the guy just comes up with bad idea after bad idea.

Also not a fan of Manfred’s handling of the Astros/ Red Sox cheating scandal. Commissioners job is to protect the integrity of the game and with each bit of news that comes out I feel that more and more he is failing the job description.

Mike Bolsinger is suing the Astros.

Mike Bolsinger faced eight batters and got one out vs. the Astros in 2017. He hasn't pitched in the majors since. On Monday, he sued the team.

“Yes, Bolsinger is seeking unspecified damages, but they’re not all for himself. He wants the Astros to forfeit the roughly $31 million in bonuses from their ill-gotten World Series title, and for the money to go to charities in Los Angeles focused on bettering kids’ lives, as well as to create a fund for retired baseball players who need financial assistance.“

According to his lawsuit there were bangs on 12 of his 29 pitches.

His last game in the majors was against Houston, he got crushed and was sent back to the minors after it and never got another chance in the majors since. After that season he’s had to go play in Japan.

I doubt he wins it but hope he does. Astros better hope he loses, wouldn’t be surprised if there’s other players with similar situations that would have a reason to come after them if this works out for him. Get em Mike.
