Pedro - 7.2IP 1R 1ER 7K 4H 2BB W(1-1)
Halladay - 7IP 3 R 3 ER 7K 7H 2BB L(0-2)
Both pitchers put up zero's in dominating fashion until David Ortiz hit a 2-run homer in the 6th. Orlando Hudson narrowed the score to 2-1 with a solo homer off of Martinez in the 7th but the Jays never got another run. Bellhorn and Ramirez each added a solo shot to give the Red Sox a 4-1 win.
Halladay was nasty for most of the game with that tailing fastball running at 94 away from left-handed hitters. He fell in love with his curveball early and the hitters seemed to adjust, both home runs were off of the curveball.
Martinez had a nice rebound outing from his average opening day start. His fastball was only going at 86-88 mph early on in the game and it topped out at 91mph. He had all four of his pitches working really well and his accuracy was pin-point. He was removed in the 8th because of pitch count concerns. Keith Foulke came on for the 4-out, 11 pitch save.
I love pitcher's duels so this game was a joy for me to watch (made sweeter by the Sox win). I hope a lot of you guys saw it too and I look forward to the next big pitcher's duel, whomever it may involve.
