ERA can be a misleading stat as well so I wouldn't use that as a big stick in bashing Ryan

Same thing goes for Jack Morris in the 80s. Everybody judges him on his high ERA now and thats what's keeping him from the HOF. I think that's kinda stupid because he did give up a lot of runs but when the game was on the line you could count on Morris to keep his team in the game.

You've got a point. I was going to figure out his WHIP, but got caught up in actual work. I'll try to do that tonight, but have a feeling it won't be very good.
IMO, if I had to pick a game 7 starter, it would be a Bob Gibson, Walter Johnson, Satchel Paige etc... I don't know. I guess a lot of the time I tend to favor the older players and feel that they were superior to some of today's more modern stars. I might be right, but I might be wrong. Tough thing judging talent across different era's.
