Walker is fine batting leadoff, we don't really have a leadoff guy. so what.
It's after this that I get things confused. Is CoreyPatterson the best bet at #2? He will see pitches there in front of Sosa, but-----wouldn't Alou@2, Sosa, Lee, Patterson, Ramirez look better? Why sign Lee to bat him 6th? I would not want to face Sosa and Lee back to back. People may not e afraid of Patterson, so he may not protect Lee as well, but with Derek's plate coverage, that might not be a horrible issue.
If Patterson is left at #2--which isn't too bad--why would you have Alou@4th?
I guess my real question is "why is Lee batting 6th?" I just don't get it. Does Baker really like Alou, personally? I like him alot, he's a good ballplayer, but he is in a decline, while Lee is in prime shape. Sosa-Lee-Alou-Ramirez would be nice. If Alou goes in at #6, though, being a good on base guy, he'll provide better opportunities for AlexGonzalez to see some good pitches.
Overall, i am kinda losing what little taste I had for Baker. Regarding Prior he voiced as his main concern "I just want to know how many innings I can get out of him." WTF? Go to Hell, Dusty. I want the guy for the next 5-10 years, even if that means I don't see him this year until August or September. Maybe my distaste for Baker is what this is all about.
BTW, I am a Cubs fan, but I don't think I am a "prick".
