It's just another step in the selling out of the National Pastime but looking at that ad I don't have a problem. I mean that ad is barely noticable it'll look like one big red blotch on the tv screen.

i think its a bad step for baseball but that little thing on the bases won't really ruin it. A little red diamond? The only people to see it will be the players. Now if they cut Spiderman into the outfield grass, then we have a major problem.

Since we're on the topic of advertising....

I'm surprised that none of the new retro parks have done what the real retro parks did. Have the entire outfield walls filled with advertising both local and national.

I know purists would flinch but they can't say anything becuase this was the norm back in the day. Heck i've seen pics and clips of Ebbetts field covered in advertising.

I'm not exactly wanting this tho as i've seen several teams putting up player/team mural stuff on the outfield walls now. I really like that!

I believe the Dodgers were the first to do that.

I don't mind myself but I know it bothers some people though. Wouldn't surprise me in the future to have advertising on the seats, concourse steps, jerseys, hats, pants, etc...

Look at soccer jerseys, they're full of ads.
