Any GM that trades for Beltran during the season is a moron. They will be doing a great disservice for themselves, while on the contrary the complete opposite for the Royals.

I wish the Braves could somehow pick up him, put him in left, and move Chipper back to 3rd. Especially now that he has leg problems, they might hurt more chronically, and 3B might lighten that possiblity. I'd LOVE Beltran on the Braves.

It's risky, the only way (If I was the GM) I'd trade is if I knew that we can sign him long term or keep him. He's not worth a two-three months rental, even if it does take you to the playoffs.

The Yankees do not need Beltran this season. They will not trade for him this season, because he isn't necessary to win a title.

But the Yankees will get him in the offseason in free agency. No one can compete with New Yorks check book.

Beltran is absolutely worth the 3-4 month rental to any team that feels he is the missing piece to a world title. He's the best centerfielder (all around) in baseball. Nobody brings the same package of skills as he does. Defense, speed, average, power.......he's go it all.

To anyone that thinks the Yankees won't try and make a move for him, you're crazy. He's exactly what they need. Williams and Lofton are half of what Beltran is, and since they're going to sign him in the off-season, why not make a move to guarantee a title this year? (not that it will, but that will be the Yankees logic) The only question for the Yankees is, where are they going to come up with the prospects?

The Red Sox will also be in the mix, and maybe even the Cubs. Of those 3 teams, the Cubs definately have pitching prospects to deal, and that's what KC will be looking for. Patterson and two pitching prospects for Beltran? Don't think it can't happen.

The Red Sox have zero prospects as well. Their farm system is almost as barren as the Yanks. The Yanks actually have great prospects at the lower levels, just nothing that's almost major league ready to give the Royals.
