But someone said it earlier..all they are doing is taking one for the team, and making it harder to pitch to them if you don't want to put them on base. It's a good strategy if they can handle it, but it's def. not for every batter. </font>

Now I know that Biggo holds the record for most HBP by any active player, but he's not leaning in like Viña.

Batters step into pitches all the time, it gets you on base, while i know this is a movie but, remember in Major League 2 when Jake uses Dorn as a pinch-hitter and tells him to step into one because the team needed a base runner, you think Joe Torre or Bobby Cox has not used this method in the past?, of course they Have!, it's just another part of Baseball.

Biggio gets beaned all the time, but he's never seemed to move into the pitch. I'm sure he has on occasion, but he's just a magnet.

it's a good strategy, just the fact that with all that armor there's not the cost to getting hit with a pitch like in the past

the difference between biggio and vina is that biggio does it with armor and vina doesnt wear any..

what vina does to get hit.. is that when the ball is coming inside... he turns his back to the ball.. making it look like he is trying to protect his face.. when in reality he is putting his shoulder out to get hit and get a base.
