Umm...Wood, Prior, Mercker, Grudzielanek, Gonzo, Goodwin, Wellemeyer, Sosa and Remlinger...yeah, I'm happy the Cubs are within reach of first place in the Central...if Houston or St. Louis had 9 player on the DL they would be 5-10 games under 500. BUT... Dusty Baker??? He's why the Cubs are losing...??? I don't think so.

Hmmm. You fail to remember that this is the first season in many that the Cardinals have not been injured.

And remember a couple of years ago when, amongst a ton of other injuries, the Cardinals had a pitcher go down with, oh what was it? Oh yeah, a heart attack.

And guess, what. The Cardinals still outplayed everyone and won the division with the second best record in the majors.

Didn't get any compassion from Cubs fans then, and I don't feel sorry for them now that they are finally having injuries.

Just be glad that Prior, Wood, Sosa, et al can come back from their injuries.

Besides, what are the Angeles doing? Oh yeah. Winning.

But, in all honesty, the reason the Cubs have been losing is because they only score when they hit a home run. And since no on can get on base (FYI, 1 career .300 hitter on the team--Alou) all of the homers are solo shots.

All the Priors and Woods in the world can't win consistantly when the offense scores 3 or fewer runs a game (shut out six times already).

OUCH! That was harsh! But you're right about the terrible OBA. The Cubs seem to lose games 3-2 or win 11-1 every 4th or 5th game. THis has worried me from the beginning of the year. However if frickin' Derrick Lee and Corey Patterson would start hitting then things would improve. I still think if healthy we win the division but that's a big IF. Either way I'm seeing Prior tomorrow so I'm excited!
