Another SS? Marrero is looking like a good one, Xander is a great one but probably won't stay there, and now Chavis.

Oh, btw like the pick a lot haha

You can never have too much depth. If they drafted the best player available in their mind, they made the right call. Drafting for needs can hurt you.

Still trying to force myself to like to Schwarber at 4. He walked more times than he struck out this year at Indiana. Reading his scouting report, he has an advanced approach (obviously), and is a big strong kid with above average power from the left side.

I don't want to just blindly support the pick, but McLeod said he was, in the Cubs eyes, the best hitter in the class. I don't think it was a terrible pick, and I hope he can stay behind the plate. If not, his bat can carry him at a corner outfield spot. Apparently he was the #2 guy on our board behind Aiken.

I'd expect us to go pitching crazy from here on out, probably throwing money at "hard to sign" high schoolers with the money we saved from taking Schwarber. No idea who those guys are though. Lol

Edit: Cubs appear to go under slot again with Maryland RHP Jake Stinnett with pick 45.

Cubs seemed to go under-slot with their 1st 2 picks, but I like Both selections alot. isn't that Maryland P went toe-toe with Rodon? Solid.

The Jays just had one of the best drafts I can remember. We got 3 top 15 guys. A potential 1.1 talent at 9, a great C at 11, and a top-15 pitcher at 49. And we're expected to sign all 3. Amazing.

Ya, their 11th pick was one of the names the Astros were thinking about taking 1st overall, all the way up until he got injured in late April.

That's the one concern about their picks. 9 and 11th picks both had surgerys so hopefully that doesn't mean they'll get injured often during their careers.

After what happened in 2013, it'll be great to see Jays rebuild their farm system all over again. 2014 having a competitive team while getting their farm system rebuilt, a win-win right there!

Son of my mom's friend got drafted by the Angels at 53 - P Joe Gatto from St. Augustine. Looking like that signing bonus will keep him from going to UNC. And it's a South Jersey reunion for him and Mike Trout, who's from about 30 min here (he's formerly of Millville).

Also read that a OF from our high school (Highland, NJ) might be drafted - Kyle Stinson.

I'm still trying to compute the Schwarber pick. Looks like he'll be making the move to OF with the Cubs drafting a C in the 3rd. Heard he's a better athlete than most people think, so we'll see.

I'm really excited about the Diamondbacks drafting Touki Toussaint. The wife and I always go to Silverhawks games and I look forward to watching him pitch in the near future.

Well, if the NFL and Cleveland don't work out for Johnny he now has baseball to fall back on. The Padres selected Manziel today...

If this isn't proof that the MLB draft is too long, I don't know what is. He hasn't played since his junior year in high school.

They could have taken a college senior who actually loves playing baseball, and would be happy to continue his career at the next level at some capacity. The draft has to be long. Each MLB club has to support a Low A, High A, AA, AAA, and a major league club. Plus, so many high schoolers are drafted, not all of them will sign. I don't think it's too long at all. Too long to pay close attention to? Yeah, but too long in general, no.

It was a publicity stunt, and it worked.
