    2014 MLB Draft

With the draft coming up this Thursday, I'm just wondering who everybody is wanting their team to pick in the first round. For me, I'd be super happy if the Cubs picked Nick Gordon or Tyler Kolek.

The MLB draft is biggest guess of all sports drafts. I don't think there is any sort of thing to really look for in the draft.

First round might be the best players in the draft, but all other rounds seem like just a guess.

The Phillies are drafting #7 in the first round. I'm really hoping they take an outfielder.

The Red Sox are a mystery. I guess maybe catcher at some point? They'll go pitcher way too many times, because everyone does. And I guess OF, Victorino and Sizemore aren't spring chickens.

Jays get 9th and 11th. Hopefully this year they actually sign who they draft! Getting tired having them drafting guys for past few years and not even signing all their 1st round picks.

Obviously just draft best available player. Doesn't matter who it is, if it's a player they can sign, and he's best available, then draft him. If roster is too full at that position down the road, then just trade for other positions.

Everyone projecting them to go pitcher not that I'd complain. This is a very deep pitching class and some prime talent at a position where they only have one real prospect in their system. Biddle and Hamels can't go 3 times a week.

With a combination of Tocci (CF), Altherr (RF/LF), Cozens (RF), Sandberg (LF) and Quinn (Likely moving to CF with Crawford being a more complete player and failing defensively in the INF) the Phils have a very deep outfield class about 4 years from now. They need pitching very very badly.

Can't have enough pitchers in your system. I wish the Cubs were more stockpiled with young arms.

                    Astros fan here.

Just get one of the top pitchers. Can't have too many and they can choose whomever they like best (just, please, be right).

No idea what the Marlins are going to do. Trying to find a future ace always seems like the desired option, but with the only highly valued bat in the minors being Colin Moran i'm kind of hoping they go with Alex Jackson.

I would definitely be ok with the Phillies drafting Bradley Zimmer in the first round. Hope he makes it to #7.

Ranked the third-best prospect in the state of California by Baseball America, Bradley Zimmer has shown plus speed and impressive outfield defense, and he has the chance to be a productive lefty bat with a high average and gap power.

The Phillies sure need outfield help and Zimmer might be the best pure outfielder in the draft.

in the few mocks I've been reading, A's have been linked to a high-school bat @ 25.....something I'd be totally OK with

MLB draft is easily the most boring draft of the big 4 leagues for many reasons. Specific reasons being cause it'll be years until we even see a number of guys in that draft class playing in the mlb, and because teams can't trade picks.

Thankfully NBA/NHL drafts are in 3 weeks. 2 most exciting ones for sure. NFL really isn't that exciting, mainly just cause of the 10 minute countdown clock between picks which drags out everything forever.
