I don't think we hate them because they're homers, it's because they're so damn annoying.

don't they also say 'he gone.' every time an opponent strikes out? that's just annoying.

I might see it differently if I lived there but damn, I'm glad we have the announcers we do.

Well, I'm pretty sure alot of ppl dont like other announcers. Only thing Hawk and DJ bother me is that they rarely talk about the game unless something exciting happens. Some ppl dont like Chip Carrey, and I think he's a good announcer. I donno, but it has been alot of ppl who despise the White Sox announcers. It was a thread abotu them not to long ago.

what do you mean 'they don't talk about the game' unless it's exciting?

that would really annoy me. I don't exactly want announcers to tell me every pitch but do they tell stories and not talk about a few at bats or what?

Yes, they tell stories but the stories they tell are usually about dumb stuff. For instance, a batter will swing at a curve ball in the dirt and strike out. Hawk would go as far back to the mid 70s to talk about his experiences with curveballs and various pitchers he's faced. Its just the fact that I dont know who the hell they're talking about 99% of the time that pisses me off. Its not like they'll talk about hall of famers or even decent old school players. It'll be about some no name stud that only a avid baseball card collector would know of and Hawk will go into specifics such as date, time, wind speed, the weight of the bat and the style cleats they use to wear. It just bores the hell out of me.

Hawk will go on with the story for the next 2 batters until someone does anything exciting. And I mean exciting such as a hit, strike out or HR. On routine plays, he'll call the play then immediatly continue with the boring story. All the while, DJ is just listening like he was listening to an old drunk senoir citizen talk about the past. But lately, DJ has been getting into the habit of telling old boring stories. I cant count how many times I've fell asleep on a white sox game. But you can also add the fact that I'm intoxicated to induce sleepness

No, it's certainly the most annoying though. I wanted to drive tacks through my ears this morning when Sportscenter had him say that after each homerun for the White Sox.
