All I can say is this Braves team is not built for the playoffs. I don't think I needed to tell anyone that, but they have been something else to watch this year. When they are on and win 7 straight, they look unstoppable. When they lose 8 straight, 10 straight, etc. they look like the worst team in baseball. I don't understand how they are still right there in the wild card race and the division race .
This team isn't built to win a playoff series at all, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised to see them catch heat right at the season's end and at least make it look like they will make noise. I just wish they would develop better swing selection, but this deep into the season, things are not changing more than likely. They did at the end of last year a bit and I wish they would again this year, but I don't know. I think part of it is how Freddie has this lineup built. Heyward needs protection behind him or else he'll continue to just be a mediocre hitter with decent power. He needs a Justin Upton or Freeman behind him, not a Gattis. I feel Heyward, Freeman, Upton as the 2, 3, and 4 hitters would yield a bit better results, but probably nothing overwhelming.
I apologize if this is better suited for the team topic. Seeing games like last night are just irritating. 1st and 2nd no outs and you bunt into a 1, 5, 4 double play? Bases loaded and no outs and you only get one run? I guess that is an improvement of the road trip, but still. The good thing is scoring situations are appearing, the bad is they still don't know how to hit with the runners on. If a starter gives you 7 and 1 R like last night, you have to win that game. It's just a shame this pitching staff is as good as it is somehow and this offense is so bad.
