I never got to see Brooks Robinson, but it's hard to imagine he had an arm like that Machado guy.

From what I understand from people who saw him play, Robinson didn't need to have that great of an arm. He was a human vacuum cleaner though I got to say Machado has a helluva arm.

Not a rocket arm for sure.....but damn if he didn't get to everything hit on the left side of the infield.
....and he did it for $120,000 a year at his highest salary!

He had a great run for a few years there. I also can't see him being much of anything anymore. He's definitely in the Hall of Very Good IMO.

And with O's losing, Jays just 1.5 games out of getting back into 1st. They obviously need to get division title more than 2nd WC spot. The biggest motivation is that winning division means you get the Tigers in a series and you might even get home field advantage. Finishing with 2nd WC spot means you face the best home team in the league(Angels) in their stadium for a single game.

Either way, after the deals made....Tigers-A's as ALCS matchup seems most likely. Wouldn't mind seeing A's-Nats World Series. I like both their rosters/the way they've built their teams.

Screw MLB and their terrible new blocking the plate rules. What is Mathis supposed to do not catch the ball because it's towards the 3rd base side?

That's not the rule, though. The catcher was planted in front of the plate, the ball didn't take him there. He could've easily stepped inside the baseline, but he didn't. He moved from behind the plate in foul territory, to in front of the plate right into the baseline.

I'm not agreeing with the rule, it's stupid. But, by how it's written, that's the right call.

What play did you watch? The broke it down completely on MLB Tonight and it is very clear it's the THROW that took him to the 3rd base side. That was awful …sad to see that kind of stuff being called on an MLB field.
