Re: 8/11 - 8/24 Game Discussion Thread
Yep...I had the feeling that a beatdown was imminent. It's funny how both the Jays and Tiggers got walloped tonight.
Sadly, the usually reliable (if a bit hackneyed) Buck Martinez here in Toronto has been making A TON of mistakes lately as well. It's like he's losing his mind or something.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Great site though I think some of the nitpicks in the comments are a little TOO nitpicky. Some of the things they point out are more his inflection and speaking. One person noted in one of the Orioles games how Buck said something about the Oriole lead. That's not necessarily a blunder as i've heard other announcers drop the plural when saying the score from time to time.
Nonetheless it's crazy how much Buck effs up.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 8/11 - 8/24 Game Discussion Thread
Well, Buck was a marblemouth even when reading script. We had to do a lot of takes back in the Triple Play days, haha.
Buck was (and presumably still is) an A-1 dude, though. Warm, funny, great stories, no airs whatsoever. One day after recording we asked Buck if he wanted to go to a Vancouver Canadians game with us (this was 1999, the last year of Vancouver being Oakland's AAA affiliate, and Mark Mulder was pitching that night). Buck bought our tickets, bought us hot dogs and beer, it was hilarious. (Bear in mind we could've expensed all this - except the beer - on EA, but Buck insisted.) Being the Blue Jays' colour man for so many years, Buck was pretty recognizable around Vancouver, so he was chatting with and signing autographs for fans in the stands all game in between BS'ing with us and pointing out things during the game. Awesome night.
I can never hold his broadcasting (or managing) foibles and his sometimes-antiquated views against good ol' "Uncle Buck". Great guy.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
