Bonds comments how big will the media play them up?

Bonds on racism: 'It ain't changing'

I don't know about Boston from personal experience but I've always heard thing such as this. What surprises me is that he played in Pittsburg and of the cities I have been to in the north that was by far the most racist. I not for sure if it was just people coming out of the woodworks because of a NAACP convention but other people in my family who are from there say that things have always been that way.

don't think they can, he's telling the truth. Well, I know back in the day Boston was like that. I'm sure it has gotten better, but like racism in the rest of the country, it's probably still there.

Don't judge Boston if you've never been there, thats what I would say to Mr. Bonds. Boston has the black mark on its past but in the last decade or so its been pretty good. A lot of black athletes have had great success in Boston and have been embraced by the fans such as Jim Rice and Mo Vaughn. Currently, Pokey Reese is the biggest thing in Boston since Nomar broke out in '98. The crowd wouldn't stop chanting for him after he made a great play at the game last Sunday I attended. The poor guy there to sing God Bless America had to wait for the crowd to stop chanting before he could sing. And of course, as if on cue, right when he finished the Pokey chants came back.

This is one of my problems with Barry. He has a huge chip on his shoulder and just spouts off whenever he wants without using rational thought.

This same stuff happened when he was asked if he would like days off to stay with his family (like what Roger Clemens does). His comment: "What world are you living in. I'm black. They don't do stuff like that for black people". Umm, Barry......Try to use that $.02 brain of yours and think before you speak. Clemens is able to do that because he pitches every 5th day and if he's not slated to pitch, he doesn't need to travel. It has nothing to do with black/white.

I also read this. It was mentioned that a tunnel in Boston was built for Ted Williams. When Barry was asked what Boston might build for him if he retired there, this was his comment: "Nothing, man. I'm Black. They don't build stuff for Blacks". BS Barry. Once again, use that $.02 brain of yours and remember what you saw when you were last at PNC Park. There's a huge statue of Willie Stargell outside of PNC Park in Pittsburgh in memory of what he meant to Pittsburgh and the Pirates (which isn't that racist Marque1d. I've lived here my whole life and find that comment awful narrow-minded. It's no worse here than any other city).

Anyhow, this is where I think Bonds needs to step back and start to realize what he's saying. Is racism gone? No and it probably never will be - which isn't right. However, with Barry's comments he's only FUELING the fire for racism and not doing something positive with his fame to try to slow it down. I just wish he'd realize that he's not helping the problem. For someone in a position to do something about it, DO SOMETHING. Don't just sit around and whine about it. Pretty pathetic IMO...
