Yeah, there should be a couple of changes for it to be accurate. Change SB to number of Stolen Bases Attempted and replace H + BB with Times On-Base... I'm not sure if ROE or GFC are factored in OBP or not, maybe HBP, not sure, but I believe if you want to get an accurate judgement for this, you'd have to include the other ways of getting on first other than a hit or walk.

      Thus:

      1) SBA%: SBA/TOB-HR
      2) SBA%2B: SBA/TOB-HR-3B-2B

      SBA%=Stolen Base Attempted Percentage
      +2B: for second base.

first of all: #1... is efficiency, nothing to do with % of success or failure...

            and #2 is different: SB / Hits + BB - HR - (2B x .932) - (3B x .998)

AND ... i just found out that although Rickey Henderson may be the all time base stealer because he got on base so many times, but the greatest BASESTEALER when he had the chance was VINCE COLEMAN

            Here is his stats:

            Career
            1: 40.8%
            2: 44.2%
            Best Season
            1: 54.9%

                  Re: Good stealing stat!!!

Wait... if it has nothing to do with success or failure, then why do you have a success stat there? Isn't SB a success stat?

Your stat still has a flaw each time you post it, your aim on this stat is to find out the percentage players steal base (or easiest base) when they're on base. Thus, you'd have to consider the times they attempted to steal whatever base (or the easiest base, 2nd). You're only considering SB. You have to consider CS.

                  BTW, where'd you get .932 and .998?

                  Vince Coleman stats:
                  Career
                  1) 49.2% (SBA/TOB-HR)
                  2) 56.8% (SBA/TOB-HR-(2B*.932)-(3B*.998))

*Take note that I"m only revising it.

keep your stat too... its good! I like it...

.932 means: (.068 of steals are at 3rd)
.998 means: (.002 of steals are at Home)

and we have to make sure these guys are starters...

I found out a guy playing on the bench for someone in 1989... I can't remember... but since he only hit 20, was walked 10, and stole 27... he had a 90% steal rate and his steal 2nd was 99.5%

He must have been pinch running... which is why using bench players is flawed.

so Vince Coleman's caught stealing was 8.4% and 12.2%... so to come up with the ultimate stat i guess would be to...

Take my stat and subtract it by the CS %... and you would get the best overall...
