I have to honestly say that I truly despise the unintentional intentional walk. I mean, that shows that they fear him without trying to make it obvious, which makes them unobvious cowards to some... it makes the pitcher look fearful when it's still really all the manager.
I don't know how many pitchers would much rather throw to Bonds than intentionally walk him, and I don't know if ANY pitchers would rather unintentionally intentionally walk Bonds than just intentionally walk him. It frusterates them, and as a Giants fan, it frusterates me. At least the intentional walk appears strategic.
And trust me, you guys know when they are intentional without visual intention, like Bonds' last AB just about 5 minutes ago against Mota. It kills a pitcher (and kills me) to have that happen. They want to pitch, we want to watch, and Bonds wants to hit. That way, everybody but the manager enjoys the challenge.
My second question... this is a little weird of a question, but if there was a way for the MLBPA to eliminate the unintentional intentional walk, would you guys abide by that rule, or would you be against it and let it stay?
