    The Great Debates

Saw these in my most recently received Sporting News. .

I'll list some questions, and ya`ll say what you think about each. .

    1. The Rocket or The Big Unit with a playoff spot on the line?

    2. AL or NL as the most talented league?

    3. On Base Percentage or Batting Average as the go-to stat?

    4. A-Rod or Rolen at the hot corner?

    5. Prior or Mauer as the player to build around?

    6. Gagne, Rivera, or Smoltz at closing time?

    7. Wrigly Field or Fenway Park?

    8. Best brothers - Boones or Molinas?

    9. Most embarrassing cause of injury, tripping over a bar stool in your house or sneezing?

    10. What's the best rivalry?

    11. What pitch places more stress on the arm, slider or curve?

    12. Best hair statement, Boston's Johnny Damon or Pittsburgh's Craig Wilson?

    13. Headfirst or feet first slide?

    14. Best rants, Braves manager Bobby Cox or Phillies manager Larry Bowa?

    15. Who would you rather have, the Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki or the Marlins' Juan Pierre?

    16. Where is the heat more oppressive, Arlington or Busch Stadium?

Also - feel free to post your own. .

                            1) Big Unit, That's actually a very good question because both have had somewhat sketchy performances in the playoffs through their career. Johnson gets my vote because he's had poor run support through most of his playoff appearances.

                            2) AL but the NL has better work ethic and team play.

                            3) OBP the counting of bases on balls shows how feared a hitter may be and also is far more indicative of a player's worth.

                            4) Rolen, more experience at the hot corner. A-rod might make a big error in a crucial game.

                            5) Prior, Pitching is the best way to build a team. The Blue Jays from their inception built the team around pitching and for most of the team's history the pitching was better than hitting. Also the Braves have had tons of success with their big 3.

                            6) Rivera has had far more crucial saves under his belt and through most of his postseason career has been unhittable.

                            7) Wrigley Field is the mecca of baseball. Every baseball fan should go there once in their lives. The atmosphere is also amazing especially now that the Cubs are a contending team.

                            8) Molinas

                            9) sneezing, It's amazing someone could sneeze so hard that they get injured.

                            10) Yanks/BoSox in the AL Cubs/Cards in the NL. Overall it's the Yanks/BoSox.

                            11) Curve, i've always been told that if you throw a curveball at too young an age you'll end up messing up your arm.

                            12) Johnny "Jesus in modern times" Damon

                            13) Headfirst slide, There are far too many injuries that happen from going feetfirst. At least with headfirst slides the worst that could happen is jammed fingers or broken fingers.

                            14) I guess i'd go with Larry Bowa. The guy looks like he's going to have a heart attack. Tho I prefer Lou Piniella over the both of them.

                            15) Juan Pierre is more of a threat to steal and at least has some pop in his bat. Ichiro is getting up there in age.
