check out the Jays/'spos game tonite if you can

Yeah usually this would be a stinker of a ballgame as this year both teams have fallen on hard times however one of the hotshot prospects from the Jays will be pitching tonight and making his ML debut.

The guy's name is David Bush and he's been somewhat impressive in the Jays system. His contract was purchased and he has a 6-6 record with a 4.06 ERA in 16 starts in AAA Syracuse. Even tho his record doesn't look too good his last start was impressive only allowing five hits and allowing one run in eight innings.

Since most people here may not be able to see the game i'll give my impressions later on. This post was mainly for those who like to follow new talent.

Well David Bush lived up to the hype as he was rated the 7th best prospect in the Jays organization. One thing that I learned about him that I didn't know was that his K/BB ratio this year is 5:1.

HIs performance tonight was very good. He didn't look nervous at all and went about his business as if he's been starting in the Majors all his life. Here is his line from tonight:

          5 and 2/3rd innings 4 hits 4 K's 1 BB 1 ER and 93 Pitches thrown

He has a good moving fastball that he can throw for strikes in all areas of the zone. He has what I think is a very good slow hanging curveball and was able to keep Expos hitters off balance for most of the night.

I think that he has a bright future with this organization but i'd like to see what he can do with a better hitting team.

You're right, the kid pitched extremely well. Too bad the Jays couldn't get him a win.

The Jays also have a pitching prospect named Josh Banks that I saw play down here at Florida International. He has great talent and last I heard was doing well in the Blue Jays organization. Hopefully he'll make it up to the bigs soon.

Bush looked good and I'm glad he got the call. He's already 24yrs old. Too bad the Jays have no power bats in their farm system. And the AAA team is awful.
