Position battles tell you nothing, even though they are wrong. Polanco with his 15 (wow!) RBIs in 200 at bats, cannot dream to see the day he is better then Jose Reyes. No way, Randy Wolf is better then Albert Leiter...look at stats. Leiter has been great since coming off injury. He's gotten no run support, but has an ERA of 2.12. If you want to strictly look at this year, Mets bullpen has outperformed Phillies with Braden Looper being a better closer then Billy Wagner. Obviously Phillies bullpen should be better, but this year they haven't been. I don't care how many homers Thome hits, he isn't more dangerous then Michael Piazza. Anyways, like I said, player versus player doesn't matter. The only thing that does is that the Mets have won 4 out of 5 against Phillies this year, and the city of Philadelphia breeds chokers.
Mets v. Phils and it actually means something.

Re: Mets v. Phils and it actually means something.
My initial position by position analysis was simply to point out that the Phillies have a better starting 8 than the Mets do. Here's what I hoped to prove by my message.
The Mets have the better rotation
The Phillies have the better starting 8
The Mets bullpen is currently pitching better, but the Phillies have the better arms out there, so eventually the law of averages will catch up.
All in all, the series will probably end up splitting, with the possibility of the Phillies getting 3 out of 4 because they are at home.Comment
