Texas is ripping the hide off the ball

In the past five games, Texas has 16 homers and 58 hits.

Today, Ricardo Rodriquez through a 3-hitter in a 10-0 victory at Cleveland, so if Schilling takes care of business tonight against Oakland, the Rangers will enjoy a 2-game lead in the AL West.

Plus, the Rangers are 5-1 against Boston, and when they head there for a 3-game series tomorrow, they'll avoid both Pedro and Schilling.

I can't believe the season Texas is having. I was one of those who thought they'd lose 100 games this year.

I can't believe it either. Every time I look around the Rangers are just killing their opponents. The entire team is just hammering the ball. In the last week they have averaged 8.9 runs a game!

What amazes me most is their pitching. I figured they'd have a nice young infield, but I still thought they'd finish last yet again because of their pitching. Now look at them. Kenny Rogers, who everyone figured was going to be a washed up has-been is leading baseball in wins. Dreese has an ERA of 3.82, and their bullpen has been great; lead by Cordero who is having an All-Star season. Then guys like Rodriguez come out and pitch the best games of their career.

This is all coming from the team pegged as 4th place of the AL West. Wow!

definitely, I think they're hanging on by a thread with their pitching though.

Rogers and Drese are having good years but it's a toss up as to who's going to step up and be their 3rd,4th, and 5th starters.

Hopefully Rodriguez will continue his good pitching. I just hope today wasn't a "I'm going to pitch really well because you A-holes traded me last year" type of a game.

About the pitching, it is shaky for sure in the rotation, but the bullpen is about as good as it gets. THAT is why they're winning.

You'd better hit Texas early, because you're not getting jack after the sixth against Francisco, Almanzar, Shouse, Mahay, and Cordero. Plus, Jeff Nelson will be back shortly.

                      I hope.

I just remember Aaron Fultz last year having a great first half then falling off the face of the earth.

They're 3-0 against Boston this year and as a Sox fan I'm not looking forward to their upcoming series against the Rangers. Mostly because they have a great offense and they will be facing Arroyo and Lowe. If Pedro and/or Schilling were pitching in this series I'd be far more confident. However, the Sox just destroyed the (stastically) best pitching staff in the AL so they can slug it out with anyone. Texas also has been bad at Fenway the last two years and good in Texas whenever the Sox are there. We'll see if this year is any different.
