    Re: Josh Phelps WOW

this was practically the exact same team that was 2nd in the AL last year in hitting...The problem has been hitting this season..Vernon Wells,CD,Hinske(who is garbage with the glove and k's too much)all had below average starts...Halladay hasn't pitched closed to the way he did last season...If you saw yesterday he gave up 5 hits and 3 runs in the 1st inning, thankfully he pitched better as the game went on,like he always does, but it was too late...Seems tho like when he pitches his best,he gets horrible run support...

Batista and Lilly have been decent,Batista tho has really picked it up since starting slow...

I'm just sick of the Jays rebuilding year after year..I love this team and i want them to challenge for the playoffs again like they always did...I'm getting alittle impatient with Ricciardi and his moneyball plan..so far it hasn't panned out...

They had great hitting coming into the season. They won 86 games last year with one quality starting pitcher last season so there was legit reason to believe they could win 90. I believed Lilly, Batista, Hentgen would be an upgrade over Escobar, Sturtze, Wasdin/Davis, etc...

Well most of the Jays players are still Gord Ash's guys, you have to judge JP on the guys he drafts and picks up on trades.

I disagree with your statement on Hinske about being poor with the glove. He has the best fielding percentage of any 3B in the AL this season. Lst year he lead the league in errors for 3B but this year he only has 3 so far.

Ask any Baseball expert and they'll tell you that those fielding stats(Zone Rating and Fielding percentage) are overrated...

The truth is that Hinske has horrible range and very slow feet...He can field the easy one's but i've seen so many times where his lack of range would hurt him when going to his left or even right when any of the elite 3rd baseman would get to those balls.Althought he has improved in a nig way, considering how pathetic he was last season.

I'll disgaree by saying range factor and fiedling percentage are good ways to measure a players ability but I'll agree with you in saying Hinske does have slow feet. He likes to double clutch sometimes before the throws which hurts him from time to time.

Jays have some talented position players who are near ready. Rios has already been up, and doing a decent job. Aaron Hill and Russ Adams are legit MLB starters at 2B/SS. Guillermo Quiroz is one of the better catching prospects in baseball. They just need some time to grow. Trading Delgado for a couple of arms would actually help them in the long run. If they could get Merkin Valdez and another arm, you gotta do that trade.
