Originally posted by SportsmanTOI think Delgado WILL re-sign with the Jays for the simple fact that he's been protesting the US this year. He also seems to be very comfortable in Toronto and seems to genuinely like the people and the atmosphere here. It's very rare to see a player that wants to play out his whole career on one team. Of course money is a mighty tempting thing so he may leave but I think he has enough loyalty to not leave the Jays with nothing.
With the the pathetic season he's had,he'd better not be asking for 16 mil like his last contract...He really has not played up to par and doesn't deserve anything over 30 million...I'd say a 3-4 year deal worth around 35 mil is good enough. If he doesn't like it,he can go elsewhere.Comment

Re: Indians acquire Phelps from Jays.
This trade makes me shake my head as a Jays fan.
I thought Crozier was a young guy maybe 20,21 years old and then I find out he's only 3 months younger than Phelps. A 26yr old playing at AAA is a very old prospect. Why give up a proven bat the MLB level for a unproven young when they are similar in age?
I swear JP and Tosca had something personal against Phelps. I know he' stunk hitting RHP this year but even when he hit 2 HR's against the Rays he couldn't even crack the line-up the next game. I don't care what your splits are but when you pop 2 homers in one game, you should be playing the next game.
Phelps has power to all fields and hit a 5th deck shot vs. Clemens in the Skydome a few years back.
As for Delgado I don't expect him to be back. The Jays are better off spending their money elsewhere. Delgado has stunk this season. He's swinging at bad pitches and his defence has been poor. And he's at a age where performance will start to decline and he already has wobbly knee's.Comment
