The 2015 HR Race for 74 Single-Season HRs

The 2015 season is going to be going underway in April of 2015. I think that there is going to be a HR Race with more than 2 players in the aftermath for at least 74 Single-Season HRs. Here are the players:

    NL West:
    Paul Goldshmit (ARI)
    Martin Prado (ARI)
    Mark Trumbo (ARI)
    Troy Tulowitzki (COL)
    Carlos Gonzalez (COL)
    Yasiel Puig (LAD)
    Adrian Gonzalez (LAD)
    Cameron Maybin (SD)
    Yonder Alonzo (SD)
    Buster Posey (SF)
    Hunter Pence (SF)

    NL Central:
    Dee Gordon (CHC)
    Starlin Castro (CHC)
    Joey Votto (CIN)
    Jay Bruce (CIN)
    Jonathan Lucroy (MIL)
    Aramis Ramirez (MIL)
    Ryan Braun (MIL)
    Khris Davis (MIL)
    Andrew McCutchen (PIT)
    Pedro Alvarez (PIT)
    Yadier Molina (STL)
    Jason Heyward (STL)

    NL East:
    Chase Utley (PHI)
    Ryan Zimmerman (WSH)
    Dan Uggla (ATL)
    Christian Yelich (MIA)

    AL West:
    Mike Trout (LAA)
    Albert Pujols (LAA)
    David Freese (LAA)
    Prince Fielder (TEX)

    AL Central:
    Miguel Cabrera (DET)
    Lorenzo Cain (KC)
    Alcides Escobar (KC)
    Joe Mauer (MIN)

    AL East:
    J. J. Hardy (BAL)
    Chris Davis (BAL)
    David Ortiz (BOS)
    Dustin Pedroia (BOS)
    Evan Longoria (TB)
    Brett Lawrie (TOR)
    Alex Rodriguez (NYY)

There are 42 players in this HR race for 74 single-season HRs. The most single-season HRs for all MLB are in 2001 by Barry Bonds (73 Single-season HRs). Which of these 42 players do you think will get at least 74 single-season HRs?

Re: The 2015 HR Race for 74 Single-Season HRs

Highly doubt anyone hits 74 home runs. No one has come close since Bonds did it. I believe since Bonds hit 74 no one has hit more than 50 since. Joey Bautista and Chris Davis are the only 2 I think.

Also Martin Prado plays for the Marlins now. Dan Uggla plays for Washington now. You left Justin Upton and Matt Kemp off the list. Brett Lawrie plays in Oakland now. Dee Gordon doesn't play for the Cubs and isn't a HR hitter.

As outlandish as this thread already is to begin with, listing Dee Gordon and not Giancarlo Stanton is just, I mean, ugh...

I suppose it's possible for a player to hit 74 home runs this year. However, given the recent trends, I'd say the probability is next to zero. At least 85% of your list has absolutely no chance, and you left off the player that probably has the best chance.

          Good talk.

Have you seen the pitching in MLB over the last 3-4 years?! There is NO WAY anyone is going to hit 50 HRs much less 74.

BTW Brett Lawrie is in Oakland now and ROFLMAO....Yeah, no way he even touches 30.

Biggest snub on this list is my man Ben Revere, he's on pace for at least 50 hr's in 2015.

You're forgetting the guy who actually led baseball in home runs last year... And even he only had 40. I bet no one hits over 50.
